Spaghetti Bolognese (meat, onions and garlic optional!)

Spaghetti Bolognese (meat, onions and garlic optional!)

This tomato sauce is a classic for a reason!  The sauce is packed with flavor from various vegetables and, in this case, with meat, garlic and onions optional. You'll be surprised how flavorful it can be without the usual ingredients.

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef (or a mix of beef and pork)
1 carrot, finely diced
2 celery stalks, finely diced
1 red bell pepper, finely diced (optional, for sweetness)
1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons Stella Foods The Daily
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 pound spaghetti
Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions:

1. Brown the meat: Heat the olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned. Drain off any excess fat. For a vegetarian version, skip straight to the vegetables.

2. Sauté the vegetables: Add the diced carrot, celery, and optional bell pepper to the pot. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

3. Simmer the sauce: Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and a good dose of Stella Foods The Daily. Bring to a simmer, then reduce heat and cook for at least 15 minutes, or longer for a richer flavor. The longer it simmers, the more the flavors will meld.

4. (Optional) Add some heat: For a spicy kick, add Stella Foods Addictive Heat to taste.

5. Cook the pasta: While the sauce simmers, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti and cook according to package directions until al dente.

6. Serve: Drain the pasta and add it to the sauce, tossing to coat. Serve immediately with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
